Lucas

Lucas, my nephew (on Jeff’s side), is graduating from high school this year … UNREAL!  He was 5 when we met.  It’s completely crazy to me!  Seriously, where does the time go?  He’s all grown up now (but I still pick on him like he was 5). :)  So, we got together last week to get some senior pictures for him.  Here are some of my favorites…

He’s always been a good looking kid … must be those good Wood genes :)

Anna Grace’s Recital … The Day After

Ok, so here’s Part 2 … the family session (see the last post for the background story).  What an incredibly beautiful family.  And I’m not JUST talking about pretty people here … their outward beauty is evident.  Beyond that, you can see and feel the love this family has for each other … that’s beautiful to me!  When the world seems to be full of so much bad and dysfunction sometimes, it’s just refreshing to see.   I feel so incredibly blessed to be a part of something as good and sweet as my own family.  To quote one of my very favorite brands, “Life is Good!”

Anyway, Allin (one of the siblings) couldn’t be there that day so we decided not to do any group family shots.  Instead, I got everyone individually and was able to get Allin later that week when he made the trip to Nashville.

Meet the family … kids first.

Anna Grace’s Senior Recital (Belmont) …

I got a call from Bob several weeks ago.  Bob is Anna Grace’s dad (you’ve seen Anna Grace on this blog here and here).  He told me he had a problem.  While it was a good one, it was a problem nonetheless.  He proceeded to tell me of his beautiful office with large windows and a 14-foot-high walls.  The problem?  Those 14-foot-high walls … completely bare.  He told me that he wanted to fill those walls with his beautiful family.  I can HANDLE this problem :)

Anna Grace (the baby of the family) is a senior at Belmont University and is brilliant on the violin.  Her senior recital was coming up, so Bob and I planned for me to shoot her recital and then since the family would all be in town, we would photograph everyone so that he would have that custom artwork for his walls.  I’m super excited about what we got and I can’t wait to show them everything.

So, this is a two-part post.  First up is the recital.  I’ll follow up with the family session in the next day or so.

Anna Grace sounded amazing and looked simply beautiful in her long black dress and RED shoes.  I’m loving the shoes.  Here they are before the recital, waiting to go on stage.  I figured I’d give them their time in the spot light since they’d be hidden most of the time by the cool dress.

img_3467

These next two run neck and neck for being my favorites.  I think this first one might be in the lead at the moment, however.

And this girl … Lindsay George, has an amazing voice.  She sings jazz.  I am so completely drawn to that style of music and someone who can pull it off!  She’ll do well!

And oh, how I adored her shoes.

And to finish off the evening, RJ Knapp had everyone moving to Stevie Wonder’s Sir Duke.  I had to tell myself to STOP moving (so much).  FYI – Dancing while trying to make a photograph does not GENERALLY lead to a good outcome.

 I love good music :)

Like I said, I’ll have the family session up in short order.  Check back soon.  They’re one beautiful family!!

Jayne and Wesley (and Ripley) …

So, I had me a play date recently.  Jayne and Wesley kept me super busy playing with the Littlest Pet Shop, legos and cool trucks.  We had some fun story time too.   As if two cute, super sweet kiddos weren’t enough, I was also instantly taken with Ripley, the family’s 9 year-old standard poodle.  We were fast friends!   Meet the family …

Did I mention, little Ms. Jayne is missing her two front teeth?  Mom and I were trying to get this session scheduled before those babies started growing back in.  I LOVE this!  It cracked me up … she’s loving pulling her teeth.  She’ll start working on loosening teeth that aren’t even ready yet.  Mom made her promise not to touch any others until AFTER our session.  It was driving her crazy! :)

Felix and Finlay

So, I made a couple of new friends last week … Felix and Finlay (both silken windhounds).  Felix, the older and more colorful brother, is a year old, while Finlay, the sweet baby, is just 15 weeks.  I had SO much fun playing with them! Take a look at these sweet boys.

I know, I know … I can hear the lectures now.  I could list the excuses as to why I’ve been so absent around here lately … wait … look, it’s a baby!

Meet “High Road” …

Anna Grace Kimbrough (also seen here) and Sarah Davison, of the musicial duo “High Road,” are in the final stages of an independent CD project.   They play various styles of music, but this album is gospel.  So we figured it was only fitting to find a cool old church as the location for our shoot.  Mt. Olivet Cemetery here in Nashville has been in operation since 1856 and is one of the oldest cemeteries in the area.  On top of the hill, sits an old abandoned chapel.  Perfect.  The chapel and cemetery provided some awesome texture.   I think I actually got a little giddy at the sight of it all :) .   Ladies (and Lee), you kept Jill (my amazing assistant for the afternoon) and I laughing.   We had a blast with you guys.   Here are some of my favorites:

Christa and David

Recently I had the opportunity to sit in on a whole day of learnin’ with a couple of awesome photographers.  This past spring, Amber Holritz and Corey McNabb brought the world (ok … the eastern half of THIS country) their Rockstar Roadtrip, and were recently asked by the Chattanooga Professional Photographers’ Guild to speak to their group.  (I know … I’m not in Chattanooga.  I crashed the party :) .)  It was a nice small group of about 15-20 photographers.  I always enjoy meeting and mingling with fellow photographers, and this time was no different.

Corey brought us his knowledge on the wedding side of things, while Amber focused on lifestyle baby photography.  The “classroom” part of the day was from 9:00 – 4:00.  A ton of great stuff!  Then we ventured out to a local park where we met up with Christa and David, our models for the afternoon.  They are clients of Amber and Nathan (Amber’s equally talented husband) who will be getting married later this month and were kind enough to model for our group.  They were total pros in front of the camera!  The images below are some of my favorites from our group session.  Finally, we finished the day at Food Works, where I made some new friends and found a favorite new drink (thanks Amber and Corey) – the pomegranate martini!  YUM!  Thanks for a great time.  Christa and David, I hope you enjoy these:

And here’s one of Amber.  She cracked me up.  She said she does this all the time to Nathan – when she finds a great pocket of light, she’ll just stand there and wait for him to take her picture.  Problem … Nathan was busy shooting our models.  I got ya covered! :) Beautiful!

I love seeing the many different perspectives on the same subject.  You can enjoy more images from the day at Corey’s blog here (you’ll have to scroll down to the September 25th post “Speaking in Chattanooga”), Nathan and Amber’s blog here and here, and Rich Smith’s blog here

I ♥ Fall

If you know me at all, you know (or should know) that fall is my absolute favorite time of the year and we’re almost there!  Monday is the first official day, but we’ve already started seeing glimpses of it here in middle Tennessee … those awesome cool, crisp mornings and evenings.   I seriously get giddy thinking about it!  I think of camping, s’mores, sweatshirts, sitting out back around the firepit, pumpkins, the colors.  I could go on.

Fall is also a great time for portraits.   So, in celebration of this fabulous time of year, I have an extra special treat for 5 lucky people.  The next 5 people to book a fall session (October 26th is the last day for fall sessions) will receive a $75 print credit to be used toward your print purchase.  Check my website for session pricing and other details.  There you’ll also find my contact information under the “About Jen/Blog” tab.  Shoot me an email if you have questions or are ready to book.

(*** This is the perfect time to get photographs for your Christmas cards***).

Happy Fall, y’all :)

I’m Jack

Hi, allow me to introduce myself (officially) … I’m Jack.

Yes, you’ve seen me before, but since I arrived, my mom has kinda had her hands full.  I’ve kept her pretty busy and she hasn’t had as much time as before to update you guys on much.  So, being the GOOD BOY that I am, I thought I’d help her out.  I thought, at the very least, I’d let you know that they decided to keep me (yippeeeeeeee) and they named me “Jack.”  Thanks for all the name suggestions, by the way.  I found some photographs mom took of me and some of me and dad (I like my dad a lot) that I thought you might want to see.  They’re pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

I lOVE walks.  Me and mom and dad were walking one day and it started pouring rain.  I got AAAAAALL wet.  When we got back, we stopped just inside the back door so they could dry me off before I could go any further into the house.  Mom was saying something about how pretty the light was and went and got her camera.  I’m glad she did.  I LOVE these of me and my dad:

Whew! All that walking made me a little sleepy.

This is my favorite.  Did I mention I LOVE my dad?  I like to give him kisses.

So, I like water, but I wasn’t really all that fond of taking baths.  That is, until mom and dad got me my very own swimming pool.  It’s blue.  Now I get baths outside and I like that much better.   So, my first bath outside, both mom and dad were helping me and then mom ran to get her camera AGAIN.  She does that a lot.  I think it’s kinda funny, she always makes dad do the work while she takes pictures.  She’s a smart girl!  But it was okay.  Afterall, I’m a GOOD BOY, and dad and I can handle it just fine.  Here are my favorites from bath time:

I like gettin’ my head rubbed. :)

Now for the rinse cycle.  Dad sprays me …

I get him back :)   …

Did I mention I love my dad?

Dry time.  I like getting dried off … I get a full body massage :)   I’ve got to say, I’m pretty cute!

That was fun.  I’m a pretty happy boy, not to mention, lucky.  I have the best parents in the whole wide world!

Time to start a family?

Well, good news to those of you out there who have been on Jeff and I to start a family.  We think we might finally be ready.  We’re considering adoption and actually have the opportunity to foster a little guy as kind of a trial run, you know, to see if we’re REALLY ready for such a comittment.  Anyway, we picked him up on Saturday and are already in love with him.  At this point, I can’t imagine that we wouldn’t keep him.  He’s about 10 weeks old and has a ton of red hair (so he’ll totally fit in with the family).  He’s a VERY good baby!  He’s totally laid back, has a great demeanor and is a total sweetie! So, of course, I couldn’t help but get some photographs of him.  Take a look at this doll face!  But while you’re looking, be thinking of some names.  We have a couple ideas, but haven’t settled on anything just yet.  Feel free to leave a comment below if you have a great name we should consider.  So, enough talking already.  Here he is:

img_6720.jpg

img_6692.jpg

img_6699.jpg

img_6698.jpg

img_6688.jpg

img_6668.jpg

img_6687.jpg

img_6731-color.jpg

img_6763.jpg

img_6769.jpg

So for anyone who’s curious, he’s a golden retriever, lab, shepherd mix.  We picked him up from a pet rescue (http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/TN297.html).  They don’t have an actual physical shelter, people just volunteer to foster the animals until they’ve found a home.  Every Saturday, the fosters bring them to a local pet store hoping to find them permanent homes.  We were actually going to take a look at a couple specific dogs I’d seen on the Pet Finder website, but they weren’t there Saturday.  So, we just started looking around, and saw him.  It was pretty much love at first sight for both of us.  He’s VERY calm for a puppy and super lovey.  He’s well behaved and mostly house broken!!!  And that face …

Jeff and I talked on our way there that we were just going to LOOK!  We weren’t going to come home with one.  But when we found out we could do a trial run and foster him, we were all over it.  Doesn’t seem so scary that way.  :)

And if you’re wondering if he’s good with kids for when Jeff and I decide to have actual human babies … he’s great with them.  Maddie and Carson (our neice and nephew) came over just as we were getting home with him and he was GREAT with them!

Okay, I’m stopping now.  Seriously, if you have a cool name, let us know.  We’ll let you know for sure if he’s going to be a permanent part of the family and when we’ve found a suitable name.

The Santa Experience

A new kind of Christmas session

It’s the most wonderful time of the year … but it can also be the most stressful time of the year – with traffic and huge crowds everywhere you go, the hustle, the bustle, so much to do, so much to buy … so little time.

Well, I’d like to help alleviate at least a little of that stress. Picture this scene straight out of “A Christmas Story:” You’ve been standing in line for 45 minutes surrounded by children anxiously awaiting their turn with the big man in red. Things are quickly starting to go south. Everyone’s getting a little tired of standing around and the crankies are setting in. All this work for a minute and a half of face time with Jolly Old St. Nick and one painfully posed photograph to show for it. What if you didn’t have to wait in those long lines at the mall with EVERYONE ELSE? What if I told you that I could get you and your family at the top of Santa’s list for a special trip to YOUR HOUSE? What if your valuable time could be spent with Santa instead of at the end of a long line?

Well … I have great news – Santa and I are teaming up to bring a unique experience to a few very special boys and girls. This year, Santa’s not only coming to town, he’s coming to your house to spend some quality time with you and your kids – and I’ll be there to capture the story.

Your special, limited session includes: 30 uninterrupted minutes with Santa in the comfort of your own home; story time narrated by the man himself; your own personal photographer (that’s me); the gift of a little extra time and sanity (this one’s for you); and an experience your kids will never forget. Sessions are $395 and include $150 print credit to be used either toward prints or a custom designed storybook with the images from your visit.

The current plan is for Santa to be in town Saturday, December 8th.  He’s making a list … are you on it? SESSIONS ARE VERY LIMITED so, well … hurry!

Call or email for availability and/or more details (emailing is preferred). For contact information go to my website and click “About Jen / Blog.”

Thanksgiving …

I am so blessed … and so thankful. My life is rich. No, I’m not talking monetarily – at least not yet ;) , I’m talking rich in life and love: I have a wonderful family – growing up and to this day we have always been very close; I have the most amazing husband. I am such a lucky girl. He’s my very best friend in the whole wide world! My parents prayed, from the time I was a little girl, for my husband. Thanks Mom and Dad!!; I married into a great family. I love Jeff’s family like they’re my own. It’s not every day people can say they truly enjoy their “family-in-law;” I have fabulous friends; I’m thankful that God allowed Jeff and I to buy our first house this year. We LOVE it!; We live in a great country where we’re free to pursue our dreams; We are healthy; and finally I’m thankful that I’ll be eating Thanksgiving dinner (okay, lunch) in 2 hours.

Ok, so what’s a post without a picture. Here’s my niece, Maddie, sneaking the marshmallows off of the sweet potatoes last year. (Shhh, Maddie, we’ll do it again shortly :) )

Happy Birthday, Dawnie

My sister, Dawn, just celebrated her 33rd birthday on the 20th. Unfortunately, she’s in Chicago and I’m in Nashville, so I didn’t get to spend it with her. So if you’re expecting birthday pictures, sorry, I have none to share … from this year ;) .

Let me set the scene: the year – roughly 1980; the location – a small log building on the front lawn of the local McDonalds (Ronald McDonald Party House – do they even have these anymore?); the atmosphere – 10-15 very quiet and well-mannered kids (that’s what I remember anyway, I guess my mom could tell a different story – but this isn’t her story) having the time of their lives at a McDonald’s Birthday Party (this was big time – seriously) hoping to catch a glimpse of Ronald McDonald himself; the birthday girl – kinda prissy with her new birthday lip gloss, but oh so cute.

Yeah, that’s me, the cooler big sister (on the right) ;)

Old Nashville Cemetery

I’ve been wanting to shoot an old cemetery for some time now and finally got together with a couple people to actually do it, instead of just talk about it, as I often seem prone to do. This past Saturday a group of us from the Brentwood Camera Club found our way to the Old Nashville Cemetery in downtown Nashville. We found grave markers that dated back as early as the early to mid 1800s. However, some may have been older than that – there were many that could no longer be read. Anyway, we had a great time. It was the perfect fall day. Here are some of my favorites:

Meet Ryan, Emily and Renee’…

Oh my goodness!  I had SO much fun during this recent “What’s YOUR Story” session with Ryan, Emily and their amazing mom, Reneé.   We played all morning.  I arrived at their home early (ok, 9:30 is early to me for a Saturday) to get some fun morning, sleepy shots.  Reneé loves  sweet, sleepy babies (so they’re not exactly “babies” anymore – 7 and 13, but still …).   Apparently, 9:30 is not too early for a 7 year old.  Emily was already up and dressed and lounging on mom’s bed when I arrived.

_mg_2747.jpg

_mg_2758.jpg

Ahh, a man after my own heart.  Believe me, this is where I would have been too, Ryan.

_mg_2783.jpg

Ryan took his time getting up and around (ok, jealous again).  “Yeah, don’t mind me, you just watch TV and pretend I’m not even here.”  He was GREAT at just doing his own thing.  I got him exactly as he is on a Saturday.  Nothing artificial here.  I loved it. Beautiful!!

_mg_2886.jpg

Sweet - mother and daughter…

 _mg_2930.jpg

So, while Ryan was chilling, us girls went to Emily’s room to play a bit.  Mom and Emily got into her closet and found a great little coat.  CUTE!  I shot a couple of her in that…

_mg_3186.jpg

_mg_3184.jpg

Then she found a fabulous hat, “hey, how about this?”  ABSOLUTELY!  (I found out after the session – that hat was hand made by a sweet woman who is like another grandmother to her.  Perfect, a dash of sentimental value.)  Such the little model.  She was so into it.  A natural in front of the camera, no question!  She was a total blast to shoot.  Here’s my favorite shot from the day…

_mg_3267.jpg

So, then we headed outside for a little bit (and I mean little bit, it’s been 100 degrees almost every day here for the past month).  Ryan is an avid skateboarder.  It was a little too hot and he’d just banged up his leg pretty good the day before, so we didn’t get many actual skateboarding shots, but we got some great stuff.  Watch out girls … seriously!

_mg_3294-2.jpg

_mg_3334-2.jpg

Then it was back inside to decorate the cupcakes the girls made earlier (yeah, I didn’t mention that yet – somewhere with everything else going on Emily and Reneé also made cupcakes).  The girls love baking/cooking together.  Funny, Ryan didn’t seem too interested.  Is it not cool for a 13 year old boy to want to bake with his mom and little sister? ;)

_mg_3434-2.jpg

_mg_3494-2.jpg

_mg_3546.jpg

What a super fun time!  Thanks guys, for letting me invade your home and sharing a little slice of your lives with me.  I’m honored!

Support for a local author …

Remember a while back I told you I had the opportunity to photograph Ben and his parents … and that Ben’s mom, Juli, wrote a book … and they used one of the images from the shoot for the cover?  Click here to refresh your memory.

hurricane-coverbg.jpg

Well, I got an email from Juli recently with some exciting news.  She has been invited to a local author’s book signing at the Cool Springs Barnes & Noble.  It’s a pretty big deal considering the fact that the publisher is pretty small.

Here’s where you come in.  If your family or someone you know is dealing with autism, or you simply want to know more about it, please come by the Barnes & Noble in Cool Springs this Friday (August 24th) beginning at 6:00 p.m. and purchase the book (all of the family’s proceeds of the book go directly to a trust fund for Ben).  If they do well, there’s a chance Barnes & Noble may decide to carry the book as a local author.

I love family! Growing up, mine was very tight knit. There are three of us kids – me (the oldest), my sister Dawn (the middle) and my brother Brian (the youngest). Sure we had our differences as kids, but we’ve really always been very close. We’re all grown up now with families of our own and still very close (in spirit and on the telephone), but we’re spread across the country and it makes getting together a little difficult. A couple weekends ago, however, we managed a little reunion of sorts at my parents’ home in Indiana. It’s super cool to see my brother and sister with little ones – these little versions of them. I’m loving it. We all got together for two main reasons: #1 – my parents both turned 60 earlier this summer, so we had a small birthday party and #2 – my sister just had her second baby (mentioned in the post below). I’m a little embarrased to say that I don’t have any pictures of my parents OR the newest addition – Lucy. I didn’t take my camera out much, but when I did we were just playing with the kids (the three older ones).

So, about those kids – I know I’m probably a little biased, but I happen to think my neices and nephews are just about the cutest kids in the whole wide world (on both sides – Jeff’s AND mine)!! Anyway, here’s some of my favorites of the kids just hanging out …

Brian and Jonah (his oldest) – my brother has always LOVED football (He’s a die hard Notre Dame fan). I’m sure he’s thrilled to have a little boy to play football with. (Hey, nice shirt.)

Dawn and Ezra (her oldest) looking on. He soooo wants to be in there playing with the big boys.

All that watching made Ezra a bit hungry. Milk for these crumbs? Anyone? I’ll take two, please.

A little later on, Dad built a campfire for a little s’mores action. Jonah’s ready (I LOVE this one).

Ahh, toasted to a nice golden brown. Just the way I like ‘em.

Sweet, gooey goodness!

I wonder what my chances are of getting just one more?

And a couple we got playing inside by the window. I had to run and get the camera for these, the light was toooo yummy!

We had a blast, guys. Until next time …

It’s a Girl … welcome, little Lucy.

Our family has a new member … little Lucy Kathleen, born last night.  Ok, no, not to ME, but to my younger sister (Dawn) and her husband (Taylor).  She weighed in at 7 lbs. 10 oz.  I’ve yet to see her as they’re all the way up in Chicagoland, but if she looks anything like her older brother, Ezra (seen in the header at the top – 2nd photo from the left), her face will be the envy of all cameras.

It was kind of cool, they didn’t know the gender of the baby until she made her appearance last night.  My sister could have sworn it was a boy as the pregnancy was identical to that of her first (Ezra).   She offered to bet Gram (our grandma) $1000 that it was a boy.  Gram said she’d go as high as $5.  Bet you wish you’d taken her up on the bet, huh Gram :)   They even kept their choices of names to themselves.  Anyway, in a world of instant gratification, the wait was kind of fun (although don’t go expecting the same from me :) ).

Now, let me direct some words of advice directly to my sister.  Dawn, since you yourself are a 2nd child, you know firsthand how the 2nd child suffers terribly from “2nd child syndrome” – you know, the parents struggle to find the time or see the urgency in capturing that little life in photographs.  With the first, everything is, well, a first, and parents  go crazy photographing EVERYTHING that little one does.  By the time the 2nd comes along, there’s just not time anymore and the newness of being a parent is long gone.  So PLEASE, as a photographer, and more importantly, as the sister to a younger sister who hated that she didn’t have many pictures of herself growing up, MAKE the time.  I can’t wait to see some pictures. :)

Congrats guys.  Can’t wait to see you all.

Meet La Sonia and Dante …

This weekend I had a super fun session with La Sonia and her soon-to-be 18-year-old son, Dante.   The sound of thunder and a sudden downpour 1/2 hour before our meeting almost caused us to postpone for a second time, but we decided to go ahead and chance it, hoping that the rain would move out in time.  It totally did and the overcast sky provided some yummy soft light.  I’m so glad we decided to give it a go.  We got some great stuff.  Here’s a sneak peak:

La Sonia … lovely!  Now, this girl knows how to work the camera!  crw_9470.jpg

Dante … so cool!  He does smile – it’s just not appropriate for pictures :) _mg_9495.jpg

Dang it, Jennifer!

I’m a little embarrassed. Okay, a LOT embarrassed – that the last time anyone on the outside heard from me was NOVEMBER! Dang it, Jennifer! (I call myself Jennifer only when I’ve done something idiotic or slammed one of my limbs or appendages into something. Needless to say, these are words heard all too often in my household.)

I’ve been telling myself for months that I NEED to blog, but life stuff has taken priority. Something had to give and that something, unfortunatly, has been blogging. Well, I’m back. Anyway, lots has happened since I wrote here last. It is blowing my mind that it’s already the end of May. So, just to catch everyone up on the goings-on in my world – the holidays happened. Enough said. I’m still recovering. Here’s a couple fun shots from Christmas: (I’m going to post one or two photographs for each little subject here, and then expand on those in the next couple of entries – Lord knows I have tons of stuff, but there’s just too much to share in one post).

Okay so I guess there’s more. In mid January, Jeff and I started looking to buy a house – our first. We’d been renting a great little house, but it was time to find something of our own. Wow, that was quite the all-consuming process. We found our new place the first weekend out with our realtor. We fell in love with the house, the neighborhood, the area, everything, and after crunching numbers with our mortgage guy and crunching some more, to our absolute delight, we could afford it. SOLD! We put an offer on it that weekend and 3 weeks later we were moving in. We closed on Valentine’s Day and spent our first night in the house that night. So, from packing and cleaning up the old place to painting, unpacking, attempting to decorate, unpacking and unpacking in the new place, my time has been a little eaten up. What an amazing feeling to know it’s all ours. We’re so blessed! Here’s Jeff giving it a big thumbs up after seeing it for the first time. (I’ll post more in a future entry):

And then … Family came to visit. My parents and grandma came from Indiana to see the new place. I got some super cool shots of Gram (my grandma) that will get their own entry probably in the next week. I totally love them. Check back maybe after the weekend to see them. Here’s a preview. I love this one. (Yep, that’s Gram enjoying a frosty beverage.)

And then … I was also taking another class at Nashville State Community College this semester. This was a little different than the ones I’ve taken out there so far. The others were Photoshop classes. This was a business of photography class. A lot of good learnin’ and the main project in the class was to write a business plan. I’ve been telling myself I needed to do one for over a year, but never took the time and just the thought of it was a bit overwhelming . This class MADE me take the time. Phew, glad that’s over! It was one of the hardest things I think I’ve ever had to do, but IT’S DONE. I spent a ton of hours on it, but I now have a much clearer idea of what it’s going to take to make this business a hugely successful one. Oh, and when I got the plan back from the instructor – it greeted me with a nice little note:

And then … my sweet husband and I celebrated our 4th anniversary on Cinco de Mayo. We took a much needed 4 day trip to Fall Creek Falls in East Tennessee. It rained much of the time, but we just didn’t care. We actually enjoyed it. We did a little fishing in the rain and we sat for hours out on the covered deck (we rented a cabin) listening to the rain. It was all very relaxing! We soooo needed it. Here’s a couple:

And then … I normally don’t watch too much television – can’t, I’m too busy. But the last couple months, my Tuesday and Wednesday evenings were taken up with American Idol. I’ve never watched a season before this one, but this season was different. A dear, sweet friend of ours was one of the contestants. You may have heard of her – Melinda Doolittle. That girl is an amazing bundle of talent. God has given her such a gift. Melinda, we’re so proud of you. God has huge things in store for you.

Those are just some of the things that have been keeping us busy the last several months. The summer is really gearing up. I have several sessions coming up, so stay tuned for those. I promise I’ll be better at keeping this thing up to date. Please, if you haven’t heard from me in a while, let me hear it.

Gordon and Sherrie

Gordon and Sherrie are dear friends of ours and are one of the most beautiful couples I’ve ever met. Next month they will both celebrate their 60th birthdays. Early next year they will celebrate their 39th wedding anniversary. Impressive! Their lives are so rich – so full of love for each other, their God, their family and life itself. Gordon and Sherrie, you’re beautiful!! Here’s a sneak peak:

CAN’T UPLOAD :(

Frustrating . . . I have some fabulous shots of Gordon and Sherrie that I’m trying to upload and my blogger says “sorry, uploads temporarily disabled.” Why is it that when you’re up against a deadline, even if it is self-imposed, something ALWAYS goes wrong? This is so typical for me. Guess I shouldn’t be surprised. So, stay tuned, as soon as I can upload, they’ll be up. Hopefully tonight. Until then . . .

(guess I should go finish dinner anyway)
